Andaman once again gets ready to operate Seaplanes

Port Blair: The Directorate of Civil Aviation, A & N Administration has floated an Open Tender inviting bids from operators for wet lease of a single engine (5-10 passenger capacity) amphibian seaplane for resumption of the seaplane services, which was discontinued in April, 2014.
The wet lease of seaplane will be for an initial period of three years with an option to extend for another period of two years.
The Commercial operation of India’s first seaplane started in Andaman and Nicobar Islands way back in January 2011 between Port Blair the capital city of Andaman and Islands’ Tourists hotspot Swaraj Dweep (then known as Havelock Islands). Later the service discontinued in April 2014 after completion of lease period.
