Brace for flight delays as fog hits North India

New Delhi: Passengers flying in and out of Delhi airport should brace themselves for delays, as fog hits North India and the capital city for the rst day this winters.
According to sources, runway visibility at Delhi airport dropped to 100 metres with almost nil visibility this morning. Flights operations, however, were not impacted much and were limited to delays as of now. No arrival or departures flight cancellations were reported at Delhi airport due to fog this morning, according to Delhi airport’s website.
Delhi airport has the most advanced Instrument Landing System (ILS) in the country that allows flights to land even with a visibility as low as 50 metres. The fact that there are lesser number of international flights as well as domestic flights has ensured that delays and cancellations can be managed well. However, it is expected that there would be flight delays during the day, as fog has engulfed whole of North India and other airports in the region do not have as advanced system as the airport in Delhi.
