Karipur: The operation of big aircraft will resume at Kozhikode international airport by January. DGCA
headquarters has granted permission for the operation after approving the inspection report of DGCA
officials.
At the same time, DGCA has asked Saudi Air and Air India to prepare a traffic rule for aircraft belong
to Code E category. Earlier, DGCA has informed that the operation of Code E aircraft will resume by
the end of monsoon.
Though the India Meteorological Department announced the withdrawal of monsoon on October 28,
operation of flights in Code E category did not resume. Operation of big aircraft at Kozhikode airport
was suspended following the Air India Express plane crash on August 7.
Cancelling the big aircraft operation at Kozhikode airport, DGCA informed that the decision was taken
after finding that the runway here is not suitable for big aircraft. But due to pressure for resuming
operation of big aircraft, DGCA informed that a final decision will be taken after the inquiry report on
the accident.
Following this, the DGCA declared that permission for big aircraft operation at Kozhikode airport will
be given after the withdrawal of monsoon.
