Coming Up: A Train to Bengaluru Airport

How many of us have experienced, and often cursed, the long commute to the airport in Bengaluru? Add to that the killer traffic in the city and you have a fairly disastrous scenario.

Coming to the rescue is an Indian Railways halt station that's opening up near the Kempegowda International Airport. It will be operational by next week.

The halt station, which was completed in October 2020, will possibly benefit 28,000 airport employees and passengers.

The commemoration of the halt station, situated only 3.5 kms away from the terminal of Kempegowda International Airport, will make the commute easier for thousands as shuttle services will be operated by the Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) based on the train schedules on this route.

At present only three trains are operational on the Bengaluru International Airport route, run by the national transporter. A list of the trains which will be operated from Devenahalli and Kolar has been submitted by Bengaluru Division to the South Western Railway zone with the Bengaluru Division awaiting the approval of the Railway Board to run the same.

It cost 3 crores for BIAL to construct the facility between Doddajala railway station and Devanahalli railway station.
