She informed that the In-line System which has been possible with the installation of In-line
Baggage Screening System will reduce the baggage handling time to half with respect to
standalone screening. It can handle 1500 bags in hrs.
With new system in place, passengers no
longer need to personally queue up for baggage screening.
The system is expected to aid hassle free check-in and save on an average five to ten minutes
time per passenger. The project has been completed at a cost of Rs 15.8 crore and has been
integrated with existing Baggage Handling system to provide complete Baggage processing and
screening system.
Later, Ms Vini had a glimpse into the new facilities at the Airport and thereafter held a meeting
with the officials and discussed at length about the issues related to further development of
Chandigarh Airport.
The inauguration was held in the presence of Principal Secretary Civil Aviation Punjab Tejveer
Singh, Chief Administrator GMADA Pradeep Kumar Agrawal and CEO Chandigarh
International Airport Ajay Kumar along with officials of Customs, Immigration and Punjab
Police.
