While Aero India 2021 is slated to be a muted affair, a treat awaits aviation enthusiasts as two aerobatic teams of the Indian Air Force (IAF) -- Surya Kiran and Sarang -- will be putting up a combined display for the first time at the air show. Aero India 2021 is going to be held at the Air Force Station in Yelahanka from February 3 to 5.
While Surya Kiran will perform with the Hawk Mk-132 Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT), Sarang will perform with the ALH Dhruv helicopters.
In total, 63 aircraft will be on aerial and static display, while 42 aircraft will be participating in the flying display.
Some of the aircraft and helicopters which will be participating include the Light combat Aircraft, Light Combat Helicopter, Light Utility Helicopter, AN-32, C-17 GlobeMaster, and the Sukhoi-30 Mki.
For the first time, the IAF’s Rafale aircraft, Chinook, and Apache helicopters will be performing at the airshow.
Foreign aircraft are also expected to participate.
Air Commodore Shailender Sood, Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Air Force Station, Yelahanka, said that due to the pandemic, general public will be limited to 3,000 and will be allowed only in the air display areas.
All participants and general public will have to produce a covid-19- negative report taken 72 hours prior to their entry to the airshow.
