Tickets for the maiden direct flight service between San Francisco and Bengaluru have been sold out.

The first flight from San Francisco to Bengaluru will commence on January 9 as Air India will operate two non-stop flights per week to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

Similarly, from Bengaluru to San Francisco, the airline will operate the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

An Air India spokesperson said that tickets for both the inaugural flights from San Francisco and Bengaluru have been sold out. “Tickets for the first, business and economy class have been completely booked,” said the Air India spokesperson.

The Boeing 777-200LR long-range aircraft is equipped with 238 seats, out of which eight are first class, 35 business class, and 195 are economy class seats.

Reservations for Air India’s direct flight opened in November.

“We are truly honored to be the first airport in the United States to offer non-stop flights to Bengaluru. This service links two great centres of technology and innovation and strengthens the cherished relationship between San Francisco and Bengaluru. We thank Air India for their strong commitment to San Francisco for this latest service,” said Ivar C Satero, Director of San Francisco International Airport.

The Air India flight AI-175 from Bengaluru to San Francisco will depart from Bengaluru at 2:30 pm IST to arrive in San Francisco the next day at 6:30 am IST (a 16-hour journey).

The flight AI-176 from San Francisco to Bengaluru will operate on Saturdays and Tuesdays departing from San Francisco at 10 am IST to arrive in Bengaluru at 2:30 am IST (a 16.5-hour journey).

The spokesperson added that the inaugural flight from San Francisco will be helmed by an all-women crew.
