Chhattisgarh govt plans expansion of Jagdalpur airport

Raipur: After the successful operation of air services at Jagdalpur’s Maa Danteshwari Airport, the district administration is planning for expansion of the airport.

The Bastar district administration is all geared up to start the survey work for the same.

Bastar district collector Rajat Bansal has given instructions to the officials concerned to expedite the survey by consulting with the experts at the earliest.

Bansal said that the flights are being operated to and from Jagdalpur successfully. The construction of the airport was an important task, for which all the officers worked tirelessly. Now, it’s the time to expand the airport services so that it can cater more passengers, he added.

Bansal also stressed on the financial strengthening of airport and the need for airport management to function as an independent entity. For which, instructions were also given to allot shop for sale of handicrafts here. He said that handicrafts and handloom including artefacts of bell metal, bronze art, iron crafts, wood crafts are a major attraction for tourists, thus it is a viable option, at the same time providing employment to locals.
