Muscat: The Air Bubble Agreement between Oman and India will continue till the end of this month, informed Anuj Swarup, Second Secretary, Indian Embassy in Oman.
India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on December 30 extended the suspension of scheduled commercial international flights till January 31, 2021. However, it stated that the restrictions will not apply on special flights as well as international air cargo operations. Effectively the flights operating under Air Bubble Agreement and Vande Bharat Mission flights will go on as scheduled, Anuj informed.
Although carriers like Indigo, GoAir and Spice Jet operate flights between India and Oman, as per the Air Bubble Agreement, only the national carriers of both the countries are allowed to fly passengers. Oman Air and Salam Air from Oman, and Air India and Air India Express from India are the carriers that operate flights between Oman and India currently. The agreement came into effect on October 1, and was initially valid till November 1, which has been extended since then.
India operates VBM flights to countries with which it does not have an Air Bubble Agreement, which are solely through Air India Express.
