Passenger carrying 10 live bullets nabbed at Bengaluru airport

Bengaluru: A man attempting to fly out with 10 live bullets, compatible with a .22mm handgun or a rifle, in his handbag was intercepted by security personnel at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Sunday.

This is the second time in three weeks that a passenger carrying live ammunition has been nabbed at the airport. As he failed to produce a valid licence for the ammunition, he was handed over to city police for probe.

Sources said at 5.45am, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel spotted something unusual during scanning of a bag belonging to a passenger who was trying to clear security procedures to board IndiGo Airlines flight 6E 2247 from Bengaluru to New Delhi.

Ten bullets were found in the handbag of KP Praveen, a resident of Malleshpalya in New Thippasandra. Praveen told investigators that he’s a Bengalurubased interior designer and was travelling to the national capital to attend a training programme. As his explanation was not convincing, he was handed over to KIA police station personnel.
