Mangaluru: The Customs sleuths at Mangaluru airport arrested one man who had landed from Dubai and 800g gold from his possession on Thursday.
The gold seized from the passenger was of 24k purity gold valued at Rs 44.2 lakh.
The passenger had concealed the gold in his rectum in paste form, said Joannes George, joint commissioner of Customs.
George said that Customs sleuths intercepted one Ubaid Baliyath Azeez, a resident of Madikeri. He arrived at Mangaluru airport from Dubai by Air India flight IX 1814 . On thorough search, the sleuths found that the passenger had concealed gold in paste form in his rectum. About 800 gram of 24k purity gold was recovered from his possession.
