Air Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 50 lakh at Kannur Int'l Airport, one held

Kannur: Air Customs sleuths on Wednesday seized 974 grams of gold valued around Rs 50 lakh from a passenger who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Sharjah in an Air India flight. 
 Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team detained Nafseer of Koothuparamba in Kannur district in this connection. The seized gold was in the compound form and was concealed in his underwear, sources said. 
 This is the third consecutive day that gold was seized at Kannur Airport including gold worth Rs 1.10 Crore and 50 lakh seized from passengers on Tuesday and Monday respectively.
