The SC bench led by the Chief Justice SA Bobde will only consider the petition filed by the state government on Monday.
Kerala High Court had dismissed the petition filed by the state government in this regard
on October 19, 2020.
Following this, the state government and the Thiruvananthapuram
Airport Employees Union filed petitions in the apex court challenging this verdict on
November 26.
KMNP, the legal organisation representing the union, requested for an urgent hearing on
the matter. Although it was informed that the hearing would take place on many different
dates, it got postponed due to various reasons.
Meanwhile, Adani Group signed the
contract with the Airport Authority of India regarding the handover.
Following this, KMNP lawyer, Shyam Mohan, filed a letter to the Supreme Court Registrar
for not listing the petition for hearing.
The letter addressed to the Secretary General
conveyed the frustration with the petition regarding the Thiruvananthapuram airport not
being listed although several other petitions filed after November were listed for hearing.
Although the petition by the state government will be considered on Monday, it is not clear
why the employees union’ s petition has been further postponed.
