Mentally disabled Bihar man rescued from airport

Kolkata: A mentally disabled engineer from Bihar who had strayed from his home last week was rescued by Bidhannagar cops from the airport premises and was handed over to his family on Wednesday.

Police said the youth was found roaming aimlessly in the airport complex last Monday. When approached by a cop, the youth couldn’t say anything apart from the fact he was from Bhagalpur.

“There were inconsistencies in whatever the youth was saying. He needed help and we brought him to our police station, fed him and made him comfortable. He then said his name was Manish Singh and he was from Bhagalpur in Bihar. However, he couldn’t recall his address or the phone number of any family member. He had no phone with him either,” said an officer.

Officers of NSCBI police station contacted Bihar police and sought help. Bihar police got back to them later, confirming that a youth with similar description had gone missing from his home last week and that his family members had lodged a missing diary with Bhagalpur police.

The officers here got in touch with his family and his brother came to Kolkata and took him home on Thursday.
