Kolkata: There will be inline baggage scan for all passengers from tomorrow. People travelling by GoAir flights would soon be free of the hassle of first getting their checked-in baggage scanned at an X-ray machine.
Passengers travelling by all other carriers have been availing of inline baggage scan since February 17, 2020. The system permits the people to deposit the luggage at the airline check-in counter and the scan is done as bags go down the conveyor belt.
But with portal A where GoAir and AirAsia India counters were located not integrated into the system, the people of these two airlines had to get their luggage scanned before depositing them. AirAsia India flights were accommodated in portal B.
But GoAir people still need to get their bags scanned. This is going to change now. Baggage screening trials are underway by an agency authorised by Transport Security Administration, Kaushik Bhattacharjee, city airport director told the Times of India.
TSA is an agency of the US department of homeland security that looks after the security of travelling people in the US and has been given a responsibility by the civil aviation authority in the country to check up on the ILBS system at airports.
