New Delhi: Assam will get two water aerodromes, one each at Guwahati River Front and the Umrangso Reservoir.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has identified nine places in Assam for the subsidised regional connectivity scheme’s (RCS) ude desh ka aam nagrik (UDAN).

These are airpots at Jorhat, Lilabari, Tezpur and Rupsi; heliports at Nagaon, Misa and Geleki; and the two water aerodromes, the aviation ministry said in a Parliamentary reply Thursday.

“AAI has identified 24 routes in Assam under first phase of UDAN 4. The selected airline operators (SAOs) under UDAN are obligated to commence RCS flight operations on a RCS-route within a period of six months from the issuance of letter of award or within two months from the readiness of airport, whichever is later, unless any extension is granted by the implementing agency,” aviation minister H S Puri said in Lok Sabha.
