Mumbai: T1 to reopen on Wednesday, 5 carriers will move ops

Mumbai: Mumbai airport's Terminal 1 in Vile Parle will reopen on March 10 after remaining closed for almost a year. T1 was shut in the last week of March last year when the lockdown began.

It will open in the early hours of Wednesday to passengers of five airlines, booked on over 100 arrival and departure flights connecting 27 destinations in the country.

However, only passengers booked on IndiGo domestic flights will have check their departure/arrival terminal as its flights will operate from both terminals. Those booked on Go Air, Star Air, Air Asia and Trujet will board from or arrive at T1. Vistara and SpiceJet will operate from T2 as usual.

T1 to have six testing booths, isolation room

Select flights of IndiGo, with subset series 6E 5500-6E 5900, will operate to and from T1 while the rest will continue to operate from T2,’’ said Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL).

T1 will have eight registration desks and six testing booths where passengers can opt to undergo the Covid RTPCR test for Rs 850. The report will be available in about eight hours. A dedicated room has also been identified for the isolation of any suspected symptomatic passenger before transferring them to the designated facility, said MIAL.
