Fake airline job racket busted at Kolkata airport

Kolkata: A fake job racket that had been duping young job aspirants with fake assurances of airline jobs in Kolkata was busted by the crime and intelligence wing of CISF at the city airport on Friday.

CISF officials apprehended two men – Charanpreet Singh and Sourav Ghosh – from outside the Kolkata airport while they were meeting two young women, posing as senior officials of a private airline.

Acting on a tip off, CISF officials nabbed them and called airport representatives of the airline who identified the duo as fraud. The two were about to take a large sum of money from the two women while issuing fake offer letters to them, airport officials said.

“We had received a call around 1.30pm from a source about the two persons meeting the job aspirants near a restaurant opposite to airport arrival gates 2A/B. Our officials had kept a watch on them and as soon as they approached the two women, we nabbed them,” said a senior airport official.

Officials said Singh was a resident of Dum Dum and Ghosh lived in Cossipore. On interrogation, it was learnt that the duo had posed as HR manager of a private airline in the city. Some offer letters were also found in their possession addressed to different persons.
