Bareilly airport now functional! Travel from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly in just one hour

Bareilly airport is now functional and has begun its flight operations becoming the 8th operational airport in Uttar Pradesh while the other airports are in Varanasi, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Hindon.

Earlier yesterday, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri flagged off the first flight from the recently upgraded Bareilly airport. According to the reports, the Bareilly airport has recently been upgraded for commercial flight operations under the UDAN-RCS. The reports also suggest that the inaugural flight had an ‘all-woman’ crew.

Expectations are that this development will be beneficial for the local economy, trade and tourism as well. The journey earlier took more than 6 hours by road and took 4 hours by train. However now, the same journey will be completed within an hour. The departure time from Bareilly will be 9 AM, at the same time the flight from Delhi will depart at 10.30 AM.

The reports also mention that as per the regional connectivity scheme, flights between Delhi and Bareilly began their operations on March 8 and will stay operational every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
