Upset with airline, Man makes hoax bomb threat call, arrested

Alliance Air’s Nashik-Hyderabad flight was delayed following a hoax bomb threat call received shortly after take-off, the police said on Sunday.

According to the information, the incident took place on Saturday evening while the police arrested the caller later. The caller allegedly made the call after failing to get a seat in Alliance Air’s Nashik-Hyderabad flight.

Reportedly, the flight was scheduled to take-off at 8:25 pm on Saturday from Maharashtra.

Around 20 minutes before the take-off, the Nashik rural police control room received a hoax bomb threat. The caller said that a bomb has been planted in the plane.

Meanwhile, a team of police and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the spot. The team checked the plane and found no bomb or any other suspicious thing.

As a result the flight was delayed and took-off in the wee hours of Sunday.

The police arrested a person named Pabbinedi Viresh Venkat Narayan Murthy (33), an engineer from Kakinada, in Andhra Pradesh. He had booked a ticket with the airline and wanted to go to Hyderabad.

The staff of the airline told him to get another ticket after he reached the airport because his ticket PNR status was not updated.
