Air India extends leave without pay scheme for employees

New Delhi: Air India has extended the deadline for its permanent employees to opt for leave without pay (LWP) till June 30, 2021.

The government hopes to finalise Air India’s new owner by concluding the divestment process till then.

“A LWP/allowance scheme was introduced (on) July 14, 2020, and the same was extended up to March 31, 2021. It has now been decided to further extend the last date of applying under (this) scheme till June 30, 2021 and the effective date of LWP shall not be beyond one month shall not be beyond one month of the expiration the scheme,” a staff notice issued by AI GM (industrial relations) Meenakshi Kashyap on Wednesday said.
