Mumbai: Two flyers, who were quarantined at Seven Olive Hotel in Mumbai's Sakinaka area, fled on Tuesday.
The passengers had landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) on April 2.
A case was registered with the Sakinaka police against Imran Surve and Fahid Antule after a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official carried out a surprise check at the hotel.
The official will be initiating an action against the hotel management for violating the rules and not informing the civic body after the two flyers fled.
The duo was put under quarantine after they returned from the Middle East.
“The duo has been booked under sections 188 and 269 of the IPC and section 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act,” said a police officer.
A police officer also claimed that they were not informed that the flyers were quarantined at the hotel till the two escaped.
As per the government rules, all those flying from the Middle East and Europe have to quarantine themselves for seven days in a hotel and another seven days at home.
Assistant municipal commissioner Manish Walunju said, “Our team had gone to inspect the hotel on Tuesday and found the two flyers were missing. The hotel should have also kept a track of them and not allowed them to escape quarantine. Therefore it was decided to initiate action against the flyers and file a police complaint while action would be taken against the hotel under the epidemic act.”
