Flybig regional airlines to start operation from Agartala next week

Agartala: After connecting Guwahati and Kolkata with Shillong and Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh) Indore-based regional airlines Flybig is all set to start operation in Agartala from next week. The airline conducted a successful trial run at MBB airport here yesterday and the airport authority of India has allocated the space and amenities for Flybig.

Flybig will run a pair of 72 seater ATR flight in Guwhati-Agartala-Dibrugarh route on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The maiden passenger flight of Flybig is scheduled to take off from Guwahati for Agartala on June 23 next at 1035 hrs and landed here at 1135 hrs.

The same flight will start its return journey from Agartala at 1205 hrs for Dibrugarh. The flight will take off from Dibrugarh for Agartala at 1400 hrs and land here at 1545 hrs. The same flight will leave for Guwahati at 1615 hrs and to reach 1720 hrs.

The airlines sources said here that last month Flybig airlines began a direct flight service between Pasighat of Arunachal Pradesh and Guwahati connecting Kolkata on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday under UDAN scheme of the central government to improve regional connectivity.

They also have chartered service on every Friday between Shillong and New Delhi. The airlines officials claimed that the travel in Flybig is cheaper in the region than any other flight, which will soon connect all other important destinations of Northeast to boost tourism and regional economy. They observed better connectivity among the northeastern cities would widen the scope for mutual economic growth.
