Worth 57 lakh gold seized at Goa airport, man arrested

Panaji: The Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs Department has arrested a person at Goa International Airport. In fact, the person is said to be from Kerala and gold worth Rs.57 lakhs has been recovered from him. He has now been arrested. A statement issued said that Navas (full name not disclosed) from Kerala had arrived here from Sharjah by air Arabian plane. He has a total of 11 gold ingots of 1,276 grams, priced at 57.75 lakhs.

A case has now been registered against him and an inquiry has been initiated. In addition to this, Goa customs AIU unit has so far completed 2 in 2021. 89 crore smuggled gold has been seized. Yes, about 2 months ago, 1 out of three passengers from UAE arrived at Mangalore airport in Karnataka. Gold worth Rs.18 crores was seized. Customs officials had said that the gold was smuggled and seized at three different places.

Not only that, the officials also informed that two passengers from Kasargod in Kerala were stopped and gold smuggled from them was seized. Another passenger also came from Sharjah while the other had arrived here from Dubai. The value of gold seized from both of them was Rs 26 lakh. All the three passengers had come on an Air India flight.
