Meet Mawya Sudan, IAF’s first female fighter pilot from Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar: Bringing laurels to Jammu and Kashmir, Flying Officer Mawya Sudan has become the first woman from the state to be inducted as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force.

She is the 12th female fighter pilot in the Air Force.

Mawya Sudan, 24, belongs to Lamberi village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu division.

She was commissioned as a fighter pilot on Saturday at the Airforce Academy in Hyderabad during the Combined Graduation parade ceremony.

Chief of the Air Force Air Marshal RKS Bhaduria was the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer of the Combined Graduation Parade.

Meanwhile, congratulations are pouring in for the star pilot from the J&K administration, politicians and prominent citizens.

"Congratulations to Mawya Sudan, daughter of J&K, who has been commissioned as a Flying Officer in the Indian Air Force. It is a matter of immense pride & joy to see you scripting history. With this achievement, you have lent wings to the dreams of millions of our daughters,” J&K L-G Office said in a tweet.
