Fraudster poses as AAI official, offers youth job at Raja Bhoj airport in Bhopal

Bhopal: An online fraudster, posing as an official of Airports Authority of India, allegedly contacted a youth who had uploaded his resume on a job search portal and duped him of Rs 22,600. The youth told police that the accused offered him the job of a civil executive at Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal.

The accused took Rs 22,600 online — as registration charge, examination charge, uniform charge among others. Later, he asked for Rs 20,600 more for ‘verification process’ which made the youth suspicious. ASP (Cybercrime branch) Ankita Jaiswal said, Sumit Ahirwar, 24, is a resident of Kalyan Nagar in Chhola area. He is a BE (Civil) and was is looking for a job. He posted his resume on a popular job search online portal. He told police, in April, he received a call from an unknown number and the caller identified himself as an official of Airport Authority of India. He told him that he saw his profile on the online job portal and informed him about the vacancy at the executive level at Raja Bhoj Airport.

The accused told Ahirwar, if he was interested in the job he should register himself — the fee for which is Rs 2,150. The accused sent him an online test paper as a part of the selection process. After submitting his answers, he received a mail stating he has cleared the first step of the process. The accused asked him to deposit Rs 8,240 as security amount before the training module begins and then also took Rs 13,600 towards uniform charges.
