Madhya Pradesh: Now, VD Sharma seeks better air connectivity from Khajuraho

Bhopal: State BJP president and Lok Sabha member from Khajuraho, V D Sharma has urged the Central government to open an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in his constituency, direct flights to the temple town and a government medical college in Katni district.

Sharma has also written letters to the newly-appointed Union minister for health Mansukh Mandaviya and civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

“Khajuraho is a world-famous historical and tourist destination. However, the health facilities there are poor. People have to seek treatment in Bhopal or Delhi, which are more than 500 kilometres away. We need to upgrade the health facilities in the region. MP medical education minister Vishvas Sarang has sent a missive to the health minister to open an AIIMS in Khajuraho. His demand is totally justified,” read the letter by Sharma.

The BJP leader’s letter further stated, “Government land is available for building an AIIMS in Khajuraho. It would help 1.80 crore people of the Bundelkhand region. I also request the Union government to provide health facilities in Katni, which is a part of the Khajuraho parliamentary constituency. People from Katni district seek treatment in Jabalpur, which is 100 kilometres away. I request you to sanction a government medical college in Katni”. He also urged Scindia to provide new flight connectivity to Khajuraho.
