Chennai: Aman was held at the Chennai airport for carrying gold in paste form worth Rs 40 lakh hidden inside his rectum.
Based on a tip-off, the Chennai Air Customs department held a man named Chandru Sakthivel at the airport's exit. Sakthivel, 23, a resident of Viluppuram, had arrived from Dubai on Emirates flight EK-544.
When he was searched by the customs department, four bundles of gold paste weighing 948 grams was recovered from his rectum. On extraction, 810 grams of 24k gold valued at Rs 40.35 lakhs was recovered and seized.
