Air India will continue services to Kabul till stranded Indians evacuated: Envoy after return from Afghanistan

New Delhi: The Indian envoy to Afghanistan, in his first remarks, after evacuation to India on Tuesday thanked the Indian Air Force and said the welcome has had a deep impact. He said the welfare of the Afghan people continues to be an agenda for them.

"Your welcome has an impact on all of us. Thank you to the Indian Air Force who flew us out under conditions that are not normal," said the Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan is Rudrendra Tandon, who took over the post in September 2020, after landing at Jamnagar, Gujarat said.

"It's not that we've abandoned people of Afghanistan, their welfare and our relationship with them is very much in our mind. We'll try and continue our interaction with them, I can't exactly say in what form as the situation is changing," Tandon said.

An Indian Air Force aircraft evacuated the ambassador and around 120 of his staff members today. 

The envoy said that India is continuously monitoring the situation as some Indians are still there, adding that Air India will continue its commercial services to Kabul.
