Sgr airport records highest ever passenger footfall in single day

Srinagar:  Srinagar International Airport on Saturday witnessed highest ever passenger footfall in single day in the history of the airport.

Director Srinagar airport, Kuldeep Singh told Rising Kashmir that 78 to and fro flights operated at the airport on Saturday in which 10,944 passengers travelled.

"It was a historical day in the journey of Srinagar Airport. A total number of 10,944 passengers arrived and left in a single day !

This is in stark comparison with average 7,500 passengers per day before COVID," he said.

About the details, around 5575 arrived, while 5369 departed from the airport on Saturday alone.

Earlier on Friday, 8515 passengers traveled on 74 flights.

The Srinagar International Airport has become the first in India to cross 100% pre-covid passenger arrival while it has witnessed 33% growth in the same this year, officials said on Friday.

Srinagar Airport has become the first airport among 72 airports in India to achieve more than 100 percent pre-Covid traffic.

Kashmir's tourism industry is witnessing a boom after hitting the lowest in the last two years. In the month of July and August, Kashmir has seen maximum tourist arrivals.
