Jalandhar teen girl arrested for visa forgery at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: A teenage girl was arrested after she was stopped from flying to Qatar for allegedly tampering and forging with the visa for travelling on August 28.

Sahar police arrested the accused identified as Anshu Kalyan (19), who hails from Jalandhar in Punjab after the immigration caught her lie claiming she was flying to Qatar on a "Family Personal Visa" to meet her brother who is working there.

The teen reached Mumbai on August 27 to fly to Qatar and walked for clearing the security check and get an immigration stamp.

"The immigration officials at the check-in counter got suspicious when Kalyan informed that she is travelling to meet her brother. The officials then verified the visa details in the system and found out that it was a "work permit visa" not a "family visa" said a police officer of the Sahar police station.

Police learnt that the accused teen hails from a poor family and has planned to work in Qatar to overcome the financial crisis. She has paid the agent by taking a loan. "We have sought details of the agent who helped the teen to get the forged visa," said the police. The investigation team told the court that they wanted to verify details of who helped the teen in getting the fake visa.
