If you are planning to fly from Ahmedabad airport during the Diwali festival season, check your flight schedules carefully before buying tickets because flight operations are going to be affected for five months in the ensuing period. The airport is planning to resurface the runway during the day hours from November to March, causing the runways to remain closed from morning 9 to evening 6. The move by airport has got the approval of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Ahmedabad Airport management has announced a ‘NOTAM’ for the purpose.
According to Airports Authority of India rules, ‘NOTAM’ (Notice to Airmen) are notices distributed by means of telecommunication containing information concerning the establishment, condition or change in any aeronautical facility, service, procedure or hazard, the timely knowledge of which is essential to personnel concerned with flight operations.
