Air customs officials seize Rs 9.45 lakh currency from a passenger at Kannur Intl Airport

Kannur: Air customs sleuths on Monday seized Rs 9.45 lakh Indian currency from a passenger at Kannur International Airport when he came to leave for Sharjah by Go Air Flight.

Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas led team arrested Kepuram Muhammed Anwar of Muttathody in Kasaragod district with the currency notes.

During the course of security check by airport staff, currencies in the denominations of Rs 2000 and Rs 500 were found concealed in his shoes and socks and in the clothes kept in the check-in baggage.

A case has been registered in this connection and investigation is underway, Customs Superintendent VP Baby said.
