IndiGo offers unlimited free travel to Gold Medallist Avani Lekhara & Sumit Antil for 1 year

IndiGo airline announces unlimited free travel to the two ‘Gold Medallist’ Avani Lekhara & Sumit Antil for a period of one year. This comes in recognition of Avani Lekhara winning a gold medal in the women's 10m Air Rifle Standing event at the Tokyo Paralympics. Sumit Antil on the other hand won his gold medal in the men's javelin F64 event with a world record throw of 68.55 metres. This is valid on both domestic and international routes, starting September 1, 2021, until August 31, 2022.

Ronojoy Dutta, Whole-time Director & Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo said, “ You have made the country proud, and with all humility, we would like to offer you both free flights on IndiGo for a year. Please make use of this travel award to travel extensively on Indigo's network, spreading the message of resilience and courage to young people across our nation”.

Not just the Paralympics Gold Medalist Avani & Sumit, earlier the airline has also announced free unlimited travel to Neeraj Chopra, India’s only Olympics gold medalist this year, between August 8, 2021, and August 7, 2022.

Several other Indian airlines have offered in the past, free travel to the sportsperson for winning medals at Olympics. Go First, the airline which was earlier known as Go Air, announced to give free tickets to the Olympic medalists for the next five years. In a statement, Go First said it is offering free travel to "all medal-winners for the next five years until 2025" to celebrate India's best-ever haul of seven medals at an Olympics 2021. Joining the bandwagon, Star Air also offered a lifetime of free air travel for the Tokyo 2020 medal winners.
