Four subsidiaries carved out of Air India, transferred to govt SPV taking over Maharaja’s debt

New Delhi: Four subsidiaries have been carved out of Air India as the Maharaja makes the final preparations to return to founder Tata Group along with AI Express.

The four — AI Airport Services Ltd (AIASL), Alliance Air Aviation Ltd (AAAL), AI Engineering Services Ltd (AIESL), and Hotel Corporation of India Limited (HCI that runs Centaur in Delhi and Srinagar) — have been transferred to the SPV — Air India Assets Holding Limited (AIAHL) — at book value.

The government is retaining Rs 44,679 crore of AI’s debt in this SPV which will also get the subsidiaries, land and buildings.
