28 New Domestic Flights To Be Launched By SpiceJet Connecting Tourist Hotspots

Guwahati: Spicejet Airlines said on Monday that it will begin operating 28 additional domestic flights across the country on October 31. SpiceJet would also launch two more flights on the Bengaluru-Pune route, connecting Bagdogra with Ahmedabad and Kolkata with Srinagar. "As part of its new winter schedule," the airline stated in a statement, "it will start many new non-stop flights linking the tourism hubs of Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Udaipur in Rajasthan with significant metros and towns." When the government restarted scheduled domestic flights following a two-month hiatus on May 25, last year, the ministry only authorized airlines to run 33% of their pre-Covid services. Until September of this year, the maximum was steadily extended to up to 85 percent.

Ajay Singh, SpiceJet's chairman and managing director, congratulated Tata Group on winning the Air India bid. SpiceJet was also in the running to buy the debt-ridden national carrier, but was defeated by Tata by a margin of 2900 crore. With a proposed price of $18,000, Tata-owned Talace Pvt Ltd emerged as the winning bidder, while SpiceJet-led consortium had quoted $15,100 crore.
