Former BJP president of Andaman demands more flights for the island

Port Blair: Mr. Vishal Jolly, former State President, BJP- A & N islands & Member Home Ministry Advisory Committee, GoI has demanded to increase the frequency of flights for Andamans.

“DGCA is allowing 85% capacity to operate domestic flights with current status of safety standards owing to covid pandemic. Andaman & Nicobar Island has already inoculated 100% of the first dose to the targeted population & is also on the verge of completing the second dose,” Mr. Jolly informed media persons at Port Blair.

Meanwhile, in his tweet message Mr. Jolly urged the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Andaman & Nicobar Administration to consider increasing the frequency of flights for Andamans to enable sustain the economy and the tourism industry as November & December is the peak season for tourists in Andamans.

Although the Andaman and Nicobar Administration has reopened tourism in Andaman and Nicobar Island on 04 August 2021 but till now the tourist inflow is considerably low.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Andaman Nicobar tourism has witnessed a sharp decline in the arrival of tourists, causing huge losses to the industry and leaving thousands of people associated with the tourism industry in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, jobless.
