Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurates Delhi-Tirupati SpiceJet flight services

New Delhi: Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday inaugurated the SpiceJet flight services between Delhi and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.

"It will connect the spiritual capital with the national political capital as every year, 3.5 crore devotees visit Tirupati," he said at the inauguration.

The event of new flight services comes a day after the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) temporarily suspended SpiceJet's licence for the transportation of 'dangerous goods' for alleged violations, according to sources.

According to the DGCA rules, dangerous goods are articles or substances that are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property or the environment.

The suspension is for 30 days, and during this period, SpiceJet will not be allowed to carry dangerous goods, including lithium-ion batteries, on its domestic as well as international flights, the sources told PTI on Friday.

The airline said there was a "minor issue" with a package being declared as a "non-dangerous goods" by a shipper, who has been blacklisted.
