Chopper service between cities soon, heli-hubs in 4 cities, says Scindia

New Delhi: You will soon be able to hop in a chopper to travel between Pune and Mumbai Juhu; Mumbai’s Mahalakshmi Race Course and Pune; and Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.

Heliports will be developed along three expressways — Delhi-Bombay, Ambala-Kotpuli and Ambala-Bhatinda-Jamnagar — to ensure timely evacuation for medical treatment for accident victims.

Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday said that India will develop four heli-hubs in India — Mumbai Juhu, Guwahati, Delhi and Bangalore (HAL Airport).

“We have identified 10 cities and 82 routes to develop helicopter corridors across the country, starting with 6 between Juhu—Pune-Juhu; Mahalakshmi Race Course-Pune; Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar. To give a boost to Helicopter Emergency Medical Services in India, heliports will be developed alongside 3 expressways (Delhi-Bombay, Ambala-Kotpuli and Ambala-Bhatinda-Jamnagar). These would ensure timely evacuation and medical treatment for accident victims,” he said at a helicopter summit in Dehradun on Friday.
