Patna: Parallel taxiway to be built at airport; runway expansion plans are underway

Patna: In order to improve connectivity and flight operations to and from the airport, the runways of Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna will be further expanded. On Sunday, the Recommendation Committee for safe flight operations and improvement of airport infrastructure under the chairmanship of the Ex-union minister and local MP Ravishankar Prasad met in the airport auditorium and decided upon this.

As per the report by Dainik Jagran, the chairman of the committee, was also apprised by the airport authority officials about the changes made in the existing terminal hall of the airport and was updated about the construction progress of the new terminal hall as well.

Along with this, a third luggage area has also been constructed on the airport premises which will make it easy for incoming passengers to collect their luggage.

Talking about the meeting and decisions taken by the committee, chairman Shri Ravishankar Prasad said that the construction of new terminals as well as expansion of existing runways was essential.

He further said that any decision would be taken only after proper consultation with the technical team as it would affect airport operations. Also, with the construction of the new terminal, the number of passengers would also increase from 35 lakh per year to approx 80 lakh per year and, and then, expansion of the runway would be unavoidable.
