Non-stop flights between Agra and Lucknow launched

Mumbai: Agra and Lucknow are now air-linked with the launch of a direct flight on Friday. The regional flight, operated by IndiGo under the government's Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) 3.0 scheme will see an ATR 72 aircraft fly the route four times a week.

"With the launch of the new direct flight, the 4-hour travel time between the two cities has now been reduced to just 1 hour flight,” said civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

Lucknow has become the third city connected with Agra via direct flights after Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Agra airport in Uttar Pradesh is a civil enclave owned by the Indian Air Force and operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Additional flights will be launched from Kanpur and Lucknow in the coming months, said Scindia. In a press statement, the ministry of civil aviation said that till date, 371 routes and 60 airports (including 5 heliports and 2 water aerodromes) have been operationalized under the UDAN scheme.
