Adani Group to take over operations of Jaipur International Airport tonight

Guwahati: Two days after taking over the Guwahati Airport, now the Adani Group gets ready to take over the operations of the Jaipur International Airport from Sunday night.

Despite opposition from various organisations and political parties, the Union Cabinet approved the right to operate, develop and maintain the Jaipur International Airport for the next 50 years.

According to a media report, officials of Adani Group officials were observing operations at the Jaipur International Airport.

It has been reported that a total of 167 employees of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which earlier managed the operations of the airport, will also be absorbed by the Adani Group.

AAI Director JS Balhara said, “We are handing over the complete airport to M/S Adani Jaipur International Airport Ltd in a very good shape with the latest world-class infrastructure.”

“Presently, this airport has sufficient capacity but I believe in 4 to 5 years down the line they may need to develop Terminal 3 depending on the market situation. ATC & CNS services will still be provided by AAI,” he added.

As per the tender conditions, Adani Group will have to pay Rs 174 for each passenger’s departure and arrival for

domestic operations and Rs 348 for every passenger travelling from and to international destinations once the

firm takes over in the next year.

The management, development and operation of the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport, also known as Guwahati Airport, was handed over to the Adani Guwahati International Airport Limited in a “restricted ceremony” on October 8, 2021 despite widespread and prolonged protests.
