Patna: Passenger caught with gold worth Rs 28 lakh concealed in rectum at airport

Patna: The Patna Customs department has nabbed a passenger from the city’s Jai Prakash Narayan International airport carrying undocumented foreign marked gold biscuits worth 28 lakhs concealed within his rectum.

As per the report by Hindustan Times (HT), the passenger identified as Ahamed Abdul Hug was bound for Bengaluru when the arrest was made by the preventive wing of the customs department. Upon further frisking, fake identity cards were also found in his possession.

According to the HT's report, Kapil Deo Prasad, superintendent (media) at Customs (Preventive) Headquarters said that “The CISF authorities recovered foreign-marked gold biscuits, weighing 583.60g and valued at 2,818,784, from a person at Patna Airport during security check. The gold was concealed in his rectum. Thereafter, the preventive wing of Patna Customs nabbed the suspect and brought him to Customs headquarters office for interrogation,”

The investigation by authorities revealed that the gold was brought into the country for smuggling via an Indigo airlines flight from Dubai to Delhi by a carrier who had hidden the gold biscuit under his seat before getting off at Delhi and it was subsequently collected by the second carrier who collected and brought the gold to Patna for further transporting to Chennai via Bengaluru.
