SpiceJet pilots derostered after landing flight on 'wrong' end of Belgaum runway; DGCA orders probe

New Delhi: In a serious lapse, the crew operating a SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad to Belgaum on Sunday landed on the "wrong" end of the runway. The directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) has ordered a probe into this and has derostered (taken off flying duty) both the pilots pending inquiry. Luckily, the Q400 landed safely at Belgaum.

Comments have been sought from SpiceJet and are awaited.

"SpiceJet DASH8 Q400 aircraft VT-SQC operated flight SG-3733, (Hyderabad - Belgaum) on Sunday. Air traffic control had cleared the aircraft to land on runway 26 at Belgaum.

However, the landing was carried out on runway 08 (meaning, it touched down on the other end of the runway instead of the designated end).
