Kochi airport's winter schedule to increase domestic connectivity

Kochi: The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) announced the winter schedule for the domestic sector on Friday. As per the new schedule, which will be effective from 31 October 2021 to 26 March 2022, there are 50 departures a day and 694 weekly operations.

The ongoing summer schedule has been handling 456 aircraft movements weekly. CIAL said that the flight operations as per the new schedule are at par with pre-pandemic period and the domestic sector is on the path of revival.

Daily services to Trivandrum, Kannur and Goa, operated by Indigo airlines have been resumed and there are 14 daily flights to Bangalore. Flight to Goa will depart at 11.10 pm. An ATR flight operated by Indigo from Kannur will land at Kochi at 9.25am and leave for Trivandrum at 9.45am. Indigo operates another ATR flight in the Trivandrum-Kochi-Kannur sector and it will arrive from Trivandrum at 6.25pm and leave for Kannur at 6.45pm.

Delhi and Chennai will be connected with six daily flights each whereas Hyderabad and Mumbai will be connected by 7 daily flights each. The weekly operations, seven flights each to cities like Hubli , Kolkata, Mysore and Pune remain the same.

CIAL managing director S Suhas said that the airport has been trying to improve connectivity in international sectors also as per the instructions of CIAL chairman Pinarayi Vijayan and the Board of Directors. “We are happy about the resumption of domestic services to many cities. It has been a long time demand of the passengers. And we hope that by the end of this year the air traffic movements at Kochi will be back to normal,” he said.
