Arunachal Governor presses for schedule completion of Hollongi Airport project

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra Monday called upon the representatives of Airport Authority of India (AAI) to work in mission mode to complete the Greenfield Airport at Hollongi near here, within the stipulated time frame. The Governor, who physically reviewed the progress of the dream project, 28 kilometres from the State capital, asked the AAI authorities to work in tandem involving all concerned departments. Mishra said that there was a maximum of five months of rain-free period in the State available for progress of the construction work and it should be utilized to the optimum. The Governor took input on the critical areas which need to be completed within a timeframe to ensure that the first aircraft lands at the airport on August 15 next year. He also reviewed the progress of the runway, air traffic control system, departure and arrival lounges, security, power and water supplies with concerned officials during a meeting at the site.

Mishra also discussed about the intermediate arrangements for various buildings which may take longer time and further emphasized on quality of work which should be according to the specifications. He added that the AAI should ensure that the work loss due to COVID-19 pandemic must be covered up.

The Governor suggested for monthly progress chart of every work for the clearance of bottlenecks. He asked the State police department for starting selection and training of policemen in advance for security duties at the airport.
