Air Customs officials seize 1,550 gm gold from two passengers at Kannur Intl Airport

Kannur: Air Customs sleuths on Thursday seized 1,550 grams of gold worth around Rs 75 lakh from two passengers, who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

Customs sources said, they detained Abdul Shamrood and Muliyar Moideen Kunhi, who hails from Kasaragod district, in this connection.

782 grams of gold valued around Rs 38 lakh was seized from Abdul Shamrood who arrived from Sharjah n a Go Air flight while 768 grams of gold valued around Rs 37 lakh from Muliyar Moideen Kunhi who arrived from Abu Dhabi in an Air India Express flight.

The seized gold was kept hidden in their underwear, Customs Superintendent C V Madhavan said.
