Shimla MP raises issue of no flights

Shimla: The BJP MP from Shimla, Suresh Kashyap, has raised the issue of no flights at the Shimla’s Jubbarhatti airport in the Parliament on Wednesday. He said it was affecting tourism industry and demanded the resumption of air connectivity at the earliest.

He said no flight is being operated for Shimla that since the beginning of the Covid pandemic and requested civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to start it on priority. He said Alliance Air used to operate its ATR42 aircraft for Shimla and would arrive with 30-35 passengers.

In September, the MP had attended a meeting with the officials of Shimla airport to discuss their problems and to take them up with the Centre. It was proposed that the runway of Jubbarhatti airport be extended by 300 meters and to recarpet the approach road from Tutu.
