Aurangabad Airport may get listed in Krishi Udan scheme:Centre to MP Jaleel

Aurangabad: The central government has sent positive cues on therequest of including the Aurangabad Airport in Krishi Udan-2.0 scheme, stated AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel on Friday.

Mr Jaleel, who is also a member of Central Civil Aviation Advisory Committee, recently penned a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for the inclusion of Chikalthana Airport in the scheme.

Reverting on the same, the Centre replied that though the first phase of the scheme focuses on the hilly and northeastern tribal areas but still Aurangabad’s inclusion will be “considered positively in future”.

Launched in October 2021, Krishi Udan Yojana 2.0 aims at the transportation of perishable cargo products to the places which are not easily accessible.

Justifying his demand, Mr Jaleel said that agricultural commodities need to be transported to the market by air in the shortest possible time.

If the agricultural produce from Marathwada, including Aurangabad district, reaches various markets of the country in less time, it will help the farmers to get fair price for their produce, he reasoned.
