Passenger arrested with methamphetamine worth Rs. 30 million

A passenger on a SriLankan Airlines flight UL-126 from Chennai, India, was arrested along with a consignment of methamphetamine, which was hidden in milk powder boxes in his suitcase by Sri Lanka Customs Arrivals Terminal personnel today (04).

The weight of the seized consignment was 1.5 kg while the market value is estimated at a value close to Rs. 30 million.

The suspect has been identified as a 43-year-old businessman residing in the Grandpass area.

The Sri Lanka Customs Narcotics Division is conducting further investigations into the arrest, while the suspect and the seized narcotics will be handed over to the Narcotics Bureau of the Sri Lanka Police for further investigations into the matter.
